At the September 12th WWE Live Event in Santiago, Chile, Stephanie Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan to win the Women&#8217;s World Championship. Becky Lynch was the special guest referee during this match.
Liv slapped Becky during the match, which led to Becky not counting the pinfall when Liv hit Stephanie with her finisher. Becky showed Liv middle fingers instead.
Stephanie took advantage of a distracted Liv and picked up the win. You can watch the finish below:

After losing the title, Liv interfered in the AAA Mega Championship match at TripleMania 34 on Sunday, but couldn&#8217;t stop El Grande Americano from defeating Dominik Mysterio.

Wrestling agent Steve Kaye has corroborated reports that the late Andy Williams, known to fans as The Butcher, held formal discussions with AEW management regarding a future backstage role.
AEW President Tony Khan previously shared that Williams met with company staff in August to plan for his post-wrestling career. Khan stated that Williams recognized he could not wrestle forever and brought forward several promotional and behind-the-scenes ideas to remain involved with All Elite Wrestling.
Addressing online skepticism regarding the discussions, Kaye (the founder of Paragon Talent Group) confirmed on social media that he personally attended the meetings alongside Williams. Kaye verified that concrete concepts were pitched and expressed hope that AEW might eventually implement some of Williams&#8217; ideas.
Williams passed away at the age of 48 after suffering a medical emergency during an independent wrestling show in Pennsylvania. AEW honored his memory with a tribute show on Collision on September 12, 2026.

The Butcher Was Discussing New AEW Role Before His Death

Former TNA World Champion Brian Cage has admitted that he feels underutilized in AEW, while also explaining how his desire for more satisfying matches drives him to keep wrestling on the independent circuit.
Speaking on The Smooth Vega Podcast, Cage was asked about his booking and presentation in All Elite Wrestling. He acknowledged that while most wrestlers always want more, he genuinely feels he has much more to offer the company across various aspects of performance.
Despite his frustrations regarding his usage, Cage maintained that he enjoys working for AEW and praised AEW President Tony Khan. He highlighted how Khan signed and paid him while he was recovering from a torn biceps injury before officially debuting him on TV.
Cage explained that financial motivation is not behind his decision to accept independent bookings. Instead, he pursues outside dates to compete in what he calls &#8220;Brian Cage matches&#8221;, which are match opportunities that leave him with a lasting adrenaline rush, which he feels he does not get often enough in AEW.
He added that he remains motivated to perform at the highest level and will continue seeking those fulfilling match opportunities on the independent scene until he receives similar chances on AEW television.

Brian Cage Feels Underutilized In AEW

Former WWE Superstar Ilja Dragunov is gearing up for his next wrestling chapter and is widely expected to sign with All Elite Wrestling, according to Fightful Select.
The two sides have had this move in mind for a while, and barring any last-minute surprises, both camps are now putting the finishing touches on the agreement.
The transition process took some extra time because international talent leaving WWE often deal with work visa hurdles and expiration dates, an issue Dragunov had to work through before finalizing his next step.
The 32-year-old former United States Champion became a free agent last month after deciding not to renew his WWE contract, ending a quiet year where his last TV match was the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown during WrestleMania 42 weekend.
Because Ilja is his real first name, he will definitely be able to keep using it in AEW, though it is not yet confirmed whether he will also retain the Dragunov last name that he used on the independent circuit before his WWE run.

AEW wrestler and former TNA World Champion Brian Cage reflected on his past attempts to return to WWE following his initial release from the company&#8217;s developmental system. Speaking on The Smooth Vega Podcast, Cage detailed the frustration of trying to secure a second chance with the promotion early in his career.
According to Cage, his path back to WWE involved multiple false starts, including having a contract offer rescinded and being removed from the cast of Tough Enough. Former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis eventually told him in person that the company planned to bring him back after WrestleMania. However, Laurinaitis later sent him a text message stating that WWE had changed its mind, adding that Cage was &#8220;average at best.&#8221;
Cage pushed back against the assessment in his reply, telling Laurinaitis that both of them knew he was better than average. Despite the rejection, Cage noted that the harsh message ultimately proved to be a vital turning point in his life and career.
He explained that letting go of his desperation to return to WWE allowed his professional, personal, and financial situation to improve dramatically. While Cage emphasized that he is not opposed to potentially working for WWE in the future, he no longer views the company as the sole destination for a successful wrestling career.

Brian Cage Recalls John Laurinaitis Calling Him “Average At Best” During Past WWE Comeback Attempt

Mandy Rose said she is willing to hear from any major wrestling company if an opportunity comes up in the future.
Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast, Rose said she would take a call from WWE, AEW or TNA Wrestling. She added that any potential return would depend on discussions about her current goals and how she wants the next stage of her career to look.
“I would take any call, whether it was AEW, WWE, TNA, it doesn’t matter where it’s from. I would always take the call.”
Rose said she is in a different place personally and professionally than she was earlier in her career. She also noted that she would consider options outside of wrestling full-time, including a managerial role, because of the physical toll of working in the ring.
“We all know that, you know, you get beat up in-ring, and a managerial position or anything like that, I would totally not be opposed to either as well.”
She did not rule out wrestling again, saying her stance remains open if the right situation comes along.
“I wouldn’t be opposed to maybe getting back in the ring one day, you know? I always just say never say never, because I feel like you never know how you’re going to feel a certain time frame, you know?”

Rey Mysterio said he is not working toward a set retirement date as he continues balancing his in-ring WWE schedule with his role as AAA General Manager.
Mysterio wrestled Omos at AAA TripleMania 34 &#8211; Night 1 and lost.
Speaking to BANGShowbiz, Mysterio said his current schedule feels different from earlier stages of his career and that he is enjoying the mix of responsibilities:
“I think I’m loving the process right now of enjoying the moments as they come, before it was maybe a little bit more stressful because you were working constantly, four or five days a week. But now it’s been like, with the GM role in AAA, and then wrestling on RAW, I kind of vibe that program, I don’t mind it at all.
I enjoy it because I’m still on both sides of the spectrum and I’m learning as I’m growing still. So it’s really fun. I think I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me because I’m really enjoying the moments right now that I’m living inside the ring, whether as a wrestler or as a GM.”
